DDR2 800/ 667 Desktop Memory Upgrade

DDR2 4GB 800MHz DIMM

What is DDR2 desktop memory?

DDR2 memory is the second generation DDR memory technology which features faster speeds, higher data bandwidths, lower power consumption and enhanced thermal performance than DDR1 desktop memory. DDR2 memory modules are not backward-compatible with DDR memory, due to incompatible pin configurations, core voltage, and memory chip technology. To use DDR2 memory, your system motherboard must have 240-pin DIMM slots and a DDR2-enabled chipset.

In the DDR2 desktop memory upgrade segment, Strontium has the DDR2 800 / 667 desktop memory modules. Strontium DDR2 800 desktop memory modules are CL5 Unbuffered memory modules.

Since the DDR2 internal clock runs at half the DDR internal clock rate, DDR2 memory operating at the same external data bus clock rate as DDR results in DDR2 memory being able to provide the same bandwidth but with higher latency.

How to determine the type of memory module needed for upgrade?

You can use our Memory Configurator tool to determine the kind of memory upgrade needed for your desktop, the maximum amount of RAM it can handle as well as the speed. You can also consult your desktop's owner's manual, which should show you the number of slots, how much each can take, and the maximum your system can use..

Try to get as much memory as you can for each slot. While it may be less expensive to get two 1GB modules than a single 2GB module, it is always better to have the extra slot available for a future memory upgrade, if needed

Why Strontium DDR2 800 / 667desktop memory modules?

All Strontium DDR2 800 / 667 desktop memory modules are JEDEC compliant Double Data Rate2 Synchronous DRAMs (DDR2 SDRAMs) with 1.8V +/- 0.1V Power Supply. The DDR2 800 / 667 memory modules are Auto refresh and self-refresh supported. The DDR2 800 / 667 desktop memory modules has got Industry standard 133.35 x 30.00 mm form factor on 240 pin glass-epoxy substrate.  The lifetime warranty and compatibility features of the Strontium DDR2 memory modules make it a good selection for the Desktop Memory upgrade.
